My Mirror
(Danielle Lubené)

I come away
With my war torn face
Lived with it all my life
It keeps me in my place
That mirror reflects from the back of my mind
Those voices haunt me time after time
You're plain, you're plain
Oh God your face
What a shame, what a shame, what a shame

And you haven't seen
Ugly
`Til you've looked in my mirror

Don't you know
Pain builds character
You see I've got so much
I'm a caricature
They don't seem to see how deep it goes
Words split my heart like hammer blows
Distort my mind
Until all I see is
Beauty in everything but me

And you haven't seen
Ugly
`Til you've looked in my mirror

I am the dust that gathers on the floor
I am a hole in the ground
I am the dirt that fills it in
An insect caught between a window and a screen

And you haven't seen
Ugly
`Til you've looked in my mirror
